2 The smog is produced by the heavy traffic and because it rains very little and there is almost no wind. It represents a problem because LA is the most polluted city in America.

3 Several new railroad lines connected southern California with the rest of the US and settlers from the East Coast and Midwest travelled to LA, attracted by the sunny weather all year long and a lot of rich land.

4 Today there are still several active oild fields.

5 San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys are famous for their unique agricultural economy. 

6 The filming industry started in early 1920's in LA. Motion picture producers moved their studios from the East coast to LA to take advantage of the excellent weather and beautiful filming locations. 

7 The Walk of Fame is a sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. 

8 Beverlly Hills is an exclusive neighborhood where famous stars live in beautiful mansions on famous tree-lined streets. Hollywood is where movies are made.

9 Rodeo Drive is the most expensive shopping area not far from Beverly Hills. 

10 Malibu Colony are the type of guarded gate houses to keep visitors out where famous people live. They are on the beautiful Malibu beach in front of the Pacific Ocean.
